This
is my 1/48 scale Hasegawa A4PTM of the Royal Malaysian Airforce (RMAF). I was
inspired to build it when the decals suddenly became available for this
particular aircraft. Having grown up in the region I’ve always been fascinated
with the Skyhawks operated by various South-east Asian countries in the region.
The model was completed several years ago but only loaded with ordinance
(partially) recently just before its photo shoot! The Hasegawa kit is just
fantastic. The fit is almost flawless and there was hardly a need for any putty
at all and very limited cleanup at the joints. I’m sure most who have
attempted the kit will know what I mean.

The
model was mostly OOB with only the addition of a true details bang seat
and a few MK82s from the venerable Hasegawa weapons set. Paint was from
the Gunze Sangyo acrylic line. Modellers will need to add sufficient
weight to the nose and I was nearly faced with a tail-sitter when I was
finished. I had to work from very few references that I had at the time
from one of my old motorbook titles so I apologise in advance if I’ve
inadvertedly gotten some details wrong.
The
model took about a month or so of off and on work but it was a pleasure to
build. I suppose the next stop will be skyhawks for the RSAF and TNI-AU!
