Thursday,  June 24  2004           Order of Malta --  St. John's Day

No update today....but after 19 hours of work on Wednesday I did manage to finish a pre-production CD for the second class.  I now have completed the rough copies for each of the two classes.  I now hand these off to the teachers to get text telling about each field trip and classroom event.  I now have to learn how to use a new device and program I bought for transferring hi-8 video to a computer file.  This will get added to the CD's next.   Regarding the second CD.....it measured in at a fat 1.6gig.....a CD only holds .7 gig max....so I had to compress the photos here and there to get things to fit.  I finally got it down to .652 gigs.  I'm not sure but I guessing the CD for this one class has 1200 to 1500 photos.  :-)  INSANE!!!  ;-)

Thanks for your understanding.....I do sadly miss doing the ARC updates.

Wednesday,  June 23  2004           Luxembourg  National Day

I'm in the midst of the frantic time of the year as I create the Classroom Yearbook CD for each of my 2 young daughters elementary school classes.  All during the school year I have attended all fieldtrips and classroom parties and shot photos of those events as well as the kids artwork in the school hallway etc, etc.  On top of that I have shot video.  Now I am taking the 1500 photos (750 per class) and various clips of video and sorting through it all and creating a website on a CD.  Once finished, I will burn a copy for each child and hand them out on the last day of school next Tuesday.  On Monday I worked on this from 9am until 3am the following morning...19 hours....and this is why there was no update on Tuesday.  This is my little way to preserve some memories for my daughters and their classmates in these early years.  And the cost to the other parents......$4...which is the cost of the re-writable CD and a label.  Needless to say.....it is popular.

Thursday,  June 17  2004                         Iceland

I got my computer back late Wednesday evening.  The problem was a cheap fix....CDN$65......it seems the little 'watch' battery in my P-3 was dead....this re-set all my monitor settings to default.....and since I have a special monitor set-up ....it caused my computer to appear very dead.  One of the 2 CPU fans was also making noise so they replaced that was well.  Updates begin Friday. I'd like to extend a very special thank-you for all your offers of support.......the ARC family was front in center offering much support.....thanks everyone!!!!   It looks like I can keep my trusty ol' P-3 for a few more years at least.  It does all I need it to do.  As a side note......I've been busy the last few days attending class events with my daughters and doing piles of woodworking......I'm making shelves etc to organize my new ARC work area in my cool basement.

Monday,  June 14  2004        United Kingdom

My main computer I use for ARC has died.  It appears to be either a fried CPU or motherboard.  I will be taking it into a Tech on Tuesday for assessment and then I'll probably begin the task of giving it some very serious upgrading.  I'm unable to update ARC because all the ARC files are stored on the dead machine's hard drives.....the data is safe....but a bit tied up.  It may be a few days before I get this sorted out.   My apologies.  Steve B.
